Why I Write

I never really set out to become an author.

For years, I wrote things down because I needed somewhere to put them.

Thoughts about faith. Family. Law. Responsibility. Grief. Memory. My daughter. The people I have loved. The people I have lost. The strange little moments that somehow stay with you longer than the important ones are supposed to.

Some of it became poetry.

Some of it became fiction.

Some of it became books about carrying responsibility when you do not have the luxury of simply putting it down.

And some of it never became anything more than a few paragraphs written early in the morning because something would not leave me alone.

That is really what this page is for.

Not announcements.

Not advertisements.

Just reflections.

Things I notice. Things I remember. Things I am still trying to understand.

If one of them makes you stop for a moment, remember someone, think differently, pray, laugh, or feel a little less alone, then it did what I hoped it would do.
